27/06/17 - UPDATED: 1st of July: Skilled Migration Visa Changes

Updated news on reforms that effective as of the 1st of July 2017.

Subclass 457 - Temporary Work (Skilled) Visa:

  • Mandatory penal clearance checks
  • Mandatory skills assessments.
  • Removing language exemption based on skilled migrants of $96,400.
  • Removed occupations: Equipment Hire Manager; Fleet Manager; Picture Manager; Property Manager; Psychotherapist; Real Estate Agent Principal; Real Estate Agent Representative; Ship’s Engineer; Ship’s Master; Ship’s officer and University Tutor.

 

Subclass 189 (ENS) & Subclass 187 (RSMS) – Skilled Independent Visa:

  • Age requirment will remain at less than 50 however the age will be lowered for applicants under the age of 45 after the 1st March 2018.
  • Skilled Exemption have been removed for those who have nominated earnings at least equivalent to AUD $180,001

  • Removing language exemption based on skilled migrants of $96,400.

Subclass 189 – Skilled Independent Visa:

  • Maximum age will be lowered for applicants under the age of 45

Employer nominated and Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme changes:


Occupations Lists

  • The STSOL and MLTSLL will be further reviewed and revised based on Departments of Employment and Education.

English Language Requirement

  • All applicants require IELTS score of 6 (or equivalent)

Age

  • A maximum age requirement of 45 at the time of application will apply to Direct Entry stream applicants. A maximum age of requirement of 50 will continue to apply to temporary residence transition stream applicants.
